Foam Fabrication / Medical Grade & Cleanroom Applications

Foamtec's Foam Fabrication

Foamtec International is a vertically integrated producer of high purity open-cell medical and semiconductor grade polyurethane foams with integrated fabrication, assembly, cleanroom washing and cleanroom packing on one campus. These capabilities ensure the highest purity, material traceability and lot-to-lot consistency for medical device, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, optical and microelectronic manufacturers.

Foamtec’s WCC division fabricates and launders over 100,000,000 open cell polyurethane foam components in ISO 5, 7 and 8 cleanrooms per month.

Foamtec’s capabilities include the production of open-cell hydrophobic, hydrophilic foams as well as polyester and polyether foams to meet tight tolerances for porosity, density, and durometer(CLD) for a diverse range of applications including medical and cleanroom applicators, filters, cushioning devices, ultra-clean packaging and automated cleaning rollers, sponges, and roll wipers.

Components can be laundered in ISO 5, 7 or 8 cleanrooms to eliminate particles generated during fabrication and assembly

Foamtec has full microbiology and chemical testing labs to certify that components meet particle and extractable cleanliness, bioburdens and ISO 10993 cytotoxicity and endotoxin requirements. On-site labs are certified to ISO IEC 17025.

The facility is FDA registered and operates with ISO 13485 quality system.

Foamtec's reputation for cleanliness and precision fabrication are valued by the leading semiconductor wafer fabs, equipment makers, medical device, optical component, aerospace, and microelectronic companies.

Applications

  • A wide variety of foams are available to protect sensitive optical components, coated catheters, as well as semiconductor process components with surface roughness averages above 100.

  • Custom fabricated reticulated foam sponges to automate the cleaning guidewires and catheters.

  • Open-cell hydrophilic foam sponges to automate the application of adhesives, lubricants and silicones to medical devices.

  • Packaging components that must meet ISO 11607 requirements for terminally sterilized medical devices.
