Validating Cleanroom Surfaces with PolyCHECK Wipes

In the world of medical device manufacturing, ensuring the cleanliness of workstations is paramount to maintaining a sterile environment. This is particularly true in GMP clean rooms, where the assembly of medical devices takes place during line clearance. To ensure that workstations are free of opaque or light-colored particles, it is essential to have a visual guide to cleaning validation. This is where Foamtec’s PolyCHECK inspection wiper comes in.

At the beginning and end of shifts, as well as in between breaks, it is standard practice for operators to clean and sanitize workstations. However, given that worksurfaces are often light in color or stainless, it is difficult for operators to determine whether the station is free of particles that could compromise the integrity of the medical device being assembled.

Visible particles are seen using a PolyCHECK wipe and UV light.

This is where the PolyCHECK inspection wiper comes in. The dark-colored PolyCHECK wiper is designed to illuminate under UV light, allowing operators to easily see polymer-based particles as small as 10 microns. This provides a visual guide to cleaning validation, enabling operators to ensure that workstations are free of particles that could compromise the sterility of the medical device being assembled.

The surface has to be recleaned, this time using Foamtec’s MiraWIPE Microfiber Wipe.

The MiraWIPE cleanroom microfiber wipe is designed to pick up contamination without leaving it behind.

The surface is then wiped down again using the PolyCHECK Wipe.

The PolyCHECK shows no contamination and the surface is now at a clean state.

Using PolyCHECK inspection wipers has proven to be an effective way to improve cleaning uniformity in clean room environments. By providing a visual guide to cleaning validation, operators are better equipped to ensure that workstations are free of particles that could compromise the sterility of the medical device being assembled.

Overall, Foamtec’s PolyCHECK inspection wiper is an essential tool for any clean room environment where the assembly of medical devices takes place. By providing a visual guide to cleaning validation, operators can ensure that workstations are free of particles that could compromise the integrity of the medical device being assembled, ultimately improving the quality and safety of the medical device for patients.
